FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 2, ANNA MARIA 0

PAXTON, Mass. --  Junior Thomas McCarthy (Tybee Island, Ga.) and senior Connor McInnis (Duxbury, Mass.) each netted goals to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 2-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Anna Maria Wednesday evening at Amcat Field.

McCarthy gave the visiting Buccaneers (3-3) the only goal they would need in the 38th minute when he converted sophomore Michael Rouette’s (Three Rivers, Mass.) direct kick for his fifth marker of the season, and McInnis added an unassisted insurance tally (his second of the year) in the 64th minute to account for the final score.  Freshman Connor Murphy (Mashpee, Mass.) picked up the shutout win in his first career start in goal for Massachusetts Maritime, as he made nine saves on the evening, including five in the final 45 minutes of action.

Senior Elliot Kuzma (East Haven, Conn.) made 10 saves in the setback for the host Amcats (0-5-1), as the Buccaneers outshot Anna Maria by a 25-15 margin overall (12-9 on goal).  The Amcats held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks for the contest, as Massachusetts Maritime has won the last four meetings between the two schools by a combined 15-0 margin.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Bridgewater, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Bridgewater State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing that begins at Noon, while Anna Maria travels to Standish, Maine on Saturday afternoon to square off with Saint Joseph’s (Maine) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest that also begins at Noon.
