Young Selected To Play In 2012 New England Intercollegiate Men's Soccer All-Star Game

Buzzards Bay, Mass. --  Massachusetts Maritime senior goalkeeper Brett Young has been selected to play in the 2012 New England Intercollegiate Soccer Senior All-Star Game on Sunday, November 25th on the campus of Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.

A native of Falmouth, Mass. and a graduate of Falmouth High School, Young becomes the second Buccaneer to earn a spot in the prestigious contest in the last three years, as former Massachusetts Maritime standout Jon White ’11 played in the 2010 NEISL all-star game.  A three-year starter for Head Coach Greg Perry’s squad, Young posted a 1.07 goals against average that ranked second in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference play, as he recorded five victories and also ranked among the league leaders in shutouts with five and saves with 64.

Young earned second team all-MASCAC honors for his efforts this season, as he was one of four Buccaneers to be named to this year’s all-conference squad.  Young and Bridgewater State senior midfielder Tucker Fairbanks were the only MASCAC representatives on this year’s NEISL Division III team.

Massachusetts Maritime notched six triumphs in Perry’s 20th season at the helm, all of which came via shutout, and the Buccaneers also posted a pair of ties while dropping four close 1-0 decisions along the way, including a pair in overtime to eventual MASCAC regular season co-champion Salem State and conference tournament champion Westfield State.
