DUDLEY, Mass. --  Senior Derek Young’s (Falmouth, Mass.) goal just over seven minutes into play held up as the game-winner, as senior Brett Young (Falmouth, Mass.) made seven saves to record his fourth shutout of the season in leading Massachusetts Maritime to a 1-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Nichols Wednesday afternoon at Vendetti Field.

Derek Young converted a feed from fellow senior Adam Rabesa (Falmouth, Mass.) for his first marker of the year for the visiting Buccaneers (4-1-1), who are now off to the best start in school history through six contests.  Brett Young made six stops over the final 45 minutes of action, five of which came in the first 20 minutes after intermission, as he recorded his sixth career shutout with the triumph.

Freshman Alex Geas (Somers, Conn.) made three saves in the setback in goal for the host Bison (4-3), as Nichols outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 16-8 margin for the match.  The Buccaneers claimed their third 1-0 win of the season with the victory, as the others came against Curry and Becker in the first two outings of the year.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to North Adams, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on MCLA in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Nichols hosts Roger Williams in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest on Saturday morning at Nichols Field beginning at 11:30 a.m.
