BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Hieu Nguyen (Weymouth, Mass.) converted the lone goal of the match in the 17th minute of action, and senior Brett Young (Falmouth, Mass.) made a pair of save to make that margin stand up in net to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 1-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Becker Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Nguyen deflected a pass from senior Adam Vieira (New Bedford, Mass.) for his second golden goal of the season for the host Buccaneers (2-0), who are off to their best start in nine seasons after notching a similar 1-0 triumph over Curry in their season opener last Friday.  Young made one stop in each half of action to collect his fourth career shutout in the process.

Junior Tim MacDonald (Holden, Mass.) made 11 saves in goal in the setback for the visiting Hawks (0-3), as the Buccaneers outshot Becker by a 22-4 margin (15-2 in the final 45 minutes of play alone) while attempting all 10 corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Lesley in a non-league outing that begins at 3:30 p.m., while Becker hosts Fitchburg State in a non-league match on Saturday afternoon in Leicester, Mass. that begins at 2:30 p.m.
