BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Kyle Estrella (Dartmouth, Mass.) and freshman Brenton Beaufils (Charlestown, Mass.) each netted a pair of goals as UMass Dartmouth tallied six times in the second half of play to notch a 6-2 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

After a scoreless opening half of action, Estrella converted a feed from senior Thomas Uibel (Pforzheim, Germany) just 29 seconds after intermission to give the visiting Corsairs (8-2-2) a 1-0 advantage, but the host Buccaneers (4-9) evened matters four minutes later when junior Ryan Fischer (Marshfield, Mass.) knocked in a pass from senior Kevin McCord (Norwell, Mass.) in the 50th minute.  Estrella struck again just 29 seconds later by converting a pass from freshman Kyle Duarte (New Bedford, Mass.) on a breakaway, but Massachusetts Maritime again tied the score just over three minutes later when sophomore Derek Young (Falmouth, Mass.) took a McCord feed from the left side for his third marker of the season to knot the contest at 2-2.

Uibel scored what proved to be the game-winner and the first of four unanswered tallies for UMass Dartmouth, which extended its unbeaten streak to five straight with the triumph, as he converted a pass from freshman Victor Ferreira (St. Michael, Portugal) on a scramble in front of the net in the 59th minute.  Freshman Alex Machado’s (New Bedford, Mass.) direct kick in the 68th minute extended the Corsair lead to 4-2, and Beaufils added a pair of insurance tallies in less than two minutes in the 79th and 81st minutes, respectively, on feeds from sophomore Brady Paradis (Tiverton, R.I.) and Ferreira to ice the visitors’ triumph.

Sophomore Kellen Rauch (Ashland, Mass.) picked up his fifth win of the season with a pair of second half saves in goal for UMass Dartmouth, as fellow sophomore Mike Phelan (Carver, Mass.) made two first half stops for the visitors, while freshman Brett Young (Falmouth, Mass.) and sophomore Patrick Slaney (Northbridge, Mass.) combined for nine saves in net for Massachusetts Maritime as the Corsairs outshot the Buccaneers by a 21-12 margin for the match.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Worcester, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Worcester State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing that begins at Noon, while UMass Dartmouth travels to Plymouth, N.H. on Saturday afternoon to square off with Plymouth State in a Little East Conference match that begins at 4:30 p.m.
