WESTFIELD, Mass. --  Sophomores Kyle Yelin (Southwick, Mass.) and Nick Gale (Cheshire, Mass.) each netted a goal and an assist to lead Westfield State to a 6-1 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference men's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Markers by senior Kevin Andrade (Acushnet, Mass.) and sophomore Josh Severns (Suffield, Conn.) in the first 17:59 of play staked the host Owls (4-5-1, 2-1 MASCAC) to an early 2-0 advantage, and tallies by Yelin and Gale in a 1:26 span extended that margin to 4-0 at the 36 minute mark.  Sophomore Josh Hoy's (Camp Hill, Pa.) second goal of the season in the 37th minute sliced the visiting Buccaneers' (3-5-1, 0-3 MASCAC) deficit to three at the break, and goals by sophomores Tim Parsons (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) in the 60th minute and Josh Teh (Springfield, Mass.) with 2:54 remaining closed out the Westfield State scoring on the day.

Sophomore Justin Laliberte (Easthampton, Mass.) added two assists in the win for the hosts, who also received a single assist from senior Josh Silvia (South Windsor, Conn.).  Sophomore Jeff Pepoli (Ashburnham, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Westfield State with a five-save effort, while sophomore Mark Mullaney (Bridgewater, Mass.) made four first half stops in net for Massachusetts Maritime as the Owls outshot the Buccaneers by a 17-11 margin.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Newbury in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Westfield State travels to Hartford, Conn. on Wednesday afternoon to take on Trinity in a non-league match that begins at 4:00 p.m.
