NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Goals by sophomores Kevin McCord (Norwell, Mass.) and Ryan Fischer (Marshfield, Mass.) in the final 3:48 of play lifted Massachusetts Maritime to a 2-0 non-league college men's soccer victory over UMass Dartmouth Thursday evening at Cressy Field.

The scoreless match appeared headed towards overtime until McCord converted a feed from junior Paul Mullis (Marshfield, Mass.) for his sixth marker of the year in the 87th minute that proved to be the game-winner for the visiting Buccaneers (5-6-1), and Fischer provided an insurance tally less than two minutes later for the winners by converting a Mullis pass for his fifth goal of the season to close out the scoring.

Sophomore Taylor Wyman (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) picked up his second victory and first career shutout with five saves in net for Massachusetts Maritime, while freshman Mike Phelan (Carver, Mass.) made six stops in goal in the setback for the host Corsairs (8-4) as the Buccaneers outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 14-13 margin for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime travels to Fitchburg, Mass. on Saturday afternoon for a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference outing with Fitchburg State that begins at Noon, while UMass Dartmouth hosts Plymouth State in a Little East match on Saturday afternoon at Cressy Field that begins at 1:00 p.m.
