LEICESTER, Mass. -- Junior Kyle Sheehan (Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore Ryan Fischer (Marshfield, Mass.) each notched a goal and an assist to lift Massachusetts Maritime to a 4-1 non-league college men's soccer victory over Becker Wednesday evening at Alumni Field.
Sophomore Kevin McCord (Norwell, Mass.) gave the visiting Buccaneers (2-1) an early 1-0 edge in the 15th minute of action on a feed from Fischer, who extended that margin to 2-0 just 38 seconds after intermission with his third tally of the young season on an assist from sophomore Mike McCarthy (Norwell, Mass.). The host Hawks (0-3) sliced their deficit in half just a minute later when senior Snjezan Telebak (Chicago, Ill.) converted a penalty kick, but sophomore Sean Szczesny (Whitman, Mass.) provided some breathing room in the 58th minute for Massachusetts Maritime on a feed from Sheehan, who iced the visitors' triumph with the final tally of the evening on an assist from freshman Tim McDonough (Framingham, Mass.) with just over 10 minutes to play.
Sophomore Mark Mullaney (Bridgewater, Mass.) made a pair of saves to pick up his second win of the season in goal for Massachusetts Maritime, while senior Aaron Fill (Delta, B.C.) made six stops in net for Becker as the Buccaneers outshot the Hawks by a 13-6 margin for the match.
Massachusetts Maritime hosts Lesley in a non-league outing on Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Becker hosts Lyndon State in a non-league match on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field beginning at 3:00 p.m.
