PAXTON, Mass. --  Freshman Robert Nickerson's (Boylston, Mass.) goal with 7:53 remaining lifted Anna Maria to a 3-2 non-league college men's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday afternoon at Amcat Field.

Nickerson converted a corner kick from senior Armen Billian (Worcester, Mass.) to head in the game-winner for the host Amcats (6-4), who took a 1-0 advantage at the break on a tally by freshman Enco Lika (Worcester, Mass.) off a feed from fellow freshman Justin Hyland (Leicester, Mass.) in the 26^th minute.  Freshman Derek Young (Falmouth, Mass.) evened matters for the visiting Buccaneers (3-4-1) 3:27 after intermission with his first collegiate marker, but Anna Maria regained the lead in the 69^th minute on an unassisted goal by senior Michael Allard (Monson, Mass.).  Freshman Tim McDonough (Framingham, Mass.) tied things again just 30 seconds later for Massachusetts Maritime with his first collegiate tally on a feed from junior Paul Mullis (Marshfield, Mass.), setting up Nickerson's heroics in the closing minutes.

Junior Eric Perkins (Peabody, Mass.) picked up the win in goal with four saves on the day for Anna Maria, while sophomore Mark Mullaney (Bridgewater, Mass.) made three stops in net for Massachusetts Maritime as each team had 14 shots on goal for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime travels to Westfield, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Westfield State in a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference match that begins at Noon, while Anna Maria heads to Biddeford, Maine on Saturday afternoon to take on the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference clash that begins at 3:30 p.m.
