Bucs Post 4-1 Win Over Eastern Nazarene

Senior captain Peter Tomdio (Douala, Cameroon) scored twice Thursday night in a 4-1 men's soccer victory for the Massachusetts Maritime Buccaneers (2-13-1) over Eastern Nazarene College (1-19). Tomdio opened the scoring with an unassisted effort 7:30 into the match and the Bucs held on taking their 1-0 advantage into the break.

In the second half MMA exploded for three more goals with senior captain John VanDolson (Brimfield) finding the net just 1:27 into the action assisted by Matthew Patten (Weymouth). It was Tomdio again in the 49th minute once again unassisted.

Bryan Wright (Bridgewater) got the Crusaders onto the scoreboard in the 59th minute with Andy VanAmburg (Pepperell) on the helper. Paul Mullis (Marshfield) rounded out the scoring with an unassisted strike in the 89th minute.

MMA held the advantage in opportunities in the opening half, but on several chances could not connect. The Bucs applied plenty of pressure up front in the second with Tomdio and VanDolson leading the charge. Matt Woodley (Setauket, NY) did a nice job up front for Eastern Nazarene and VanAmburg played a solid match from the sweeper position.

Tim Meighan (E. Bridgewater) picked up the win in goal for MMA making six saves. Andrew Trice (Quincy) was between the posts for the Crusaders stopping 10 shots.

MMA wraps up the season Saturday when they host Worcester State at noon.
