The host Buccaneers (2-8) used five unanswered tallies over a 10-plus minute span of the third quarter to snap a 6-6 tie en route to the triumph, as Lersch netted a pair of markers during the run that also featured goals off the sticks of senior Connor Burke (Del Mar, Calif.), junior Craig Nichols (Marshfield, Mass.) and sophomore Will Doucette (Manchester, Mass.), but the visiting Hawks (4-7) scored the final goal of the third stanza and used tallies from freshman Jeff Petersen (Syracuse, N.Y.) and junior Jay Ahern (Plymouth, Mass.) in the first 1:49 of the final quarter to pull back to within two at 11-9.  Nichols completed a hat trick to give Massachusetts Maritime a 12-9 edge less than a minute later, and after junior John Bourque (Atkinson, N.H.) completed his own hat trick for Becker with 8:44 remaining to cut the visitors deficit back to two, markers by Lersch and junior Chris Davis (Cohasset, Mass.) that came 26 seconds apart in the closing minutes iced the hosts’ victory.
