Crew Finishes Strong in Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass -- Four Maritime crews scored great results in their second competition of the fall season on the venerable rowing site, Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester. It was a great day of racing despite the raw weather brought on by this weekend's Nor'easter. Rowers fought off cold, damp conditions and a steady 11 mph headwind on the course.

The Buccaneer women showed tremendous strength, conditioning and grit to finish their race in 11th place - just a minute and four seconds behind top DIII powerhouse, Connecticut College, who finished 9th.

The two varsity men's fours had equally positive results, taking the 12th and 15th slots in their event, which included DI programs Vermont & New Hampshire, as well as DIII rowing powerhouses Amherst, Connecticut, Middlebury and Williams.

Closing out the day, our novice men's 8+ rowed their first competition as Buccaneers, earning a 5th place finish.
