Massachusetts Maritime opened its 2009 fall schedule last Sunday afternoon by competing at the Lowell Textile River Regatta on the Merrimack River in Lowell, Mass. 

The men's novice 8, led by freshman Jonathan DeMeo (Hanover, Mass.), placed 11th overall for Head Coach Kelley Lessard's Buccaneers, while the men's novice 4 finished fourth overall. 

The women's novice 8 under the guidance of freshman Delphine Estebe (Pompano Beach, Fla.) finished sixth in competition, and both Massachusetts Maritime squads will compete in the New Hampshire Championships on Sunday, October 11th.
