Women's Second Novice Four Captures Petites Title, Novice Four Places Third In Grand Final At 2010 New England Crew Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Massachusetts Maritime captured the Petites title in the women’s second novice four on Saturday afternoon as part of the 2010 New England Crew Championships held on Lake Quinsigamond.

The women’s second novice four, consisting of freshman coxswain Christopher McDonnell (Abington, Mass.), sophomore Emily Welsh (Shelton, Conn.) and freshmen Lauren Denapoli (Boston, Mass.), Danielle Guidry (Nashua, N.H.) and Gretchen Kramer (Stafford, Va.), finished 36 seconds ahead of runner-up Brandeis and 43 seconds ahead of third place Bowdoin to take top honors in the event.

The women’s novice four of freshmen Tess McNally (Marstons Mills, Mass.), Delphine Estebe (Pompano Beach, Fla.), Janeen Manghis (Nantucket, Mass.), Alicia Tarr (Beverly, Mass.) and Emma King (Princeton, Mass.) finished third in the Grand Final, as the Buccaneers placed behind champion Amherst and runner-up Bates in the event.

Both the men’s novice four and second novice four posted top six performances in the Grand Finals for Massachusetts Maritime, while the men’s varsity eight placed third in the third final of the event.
