Buccaneer Crew Squads Post Four Top Three Finishes At Clark Quad Invitational

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads competed in a quad invitational with Amherst, Brandeis and host Clark on Sunday afternoon on Lake Quinsigamond.

The Buccaneer women’s novice four consisting of freshmen Tess McNally (Marstons Mills, Mass.), Delphine Estebe (Pompano Beach, Fla.), Janeen Manghis (Nantucket, Mass.), Alicia Tarr (Danvers, Mass.) and Emma King (Princeton, Mass.) finished second in competition with a time of 8:51.3, while the men’s novice four of freshmen Timothy Matchett (Smithfield, R.I.), Craig Lohr (Mashpee, Mass.), Douglas Courtot (Wrentham, Mass.), Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.) and Devin McNeil (Westford, Mass.) placed third with a time of 7:59.0.  The men’s second novice four squad consisting of sophomore coxswain Angella Esposito (Dorchester, Mass.) and freshmen Ludvigs Vaivarins (Plymouth, Mass.), William Walsh (Yarmouth, Maine), Thomas Young (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Jonathan DeMeo (Hanover, Mass.) added a third place performance with a time of 8:41.1.

The Massachusetts Maritime varsity men’s four consisting of seniors Chris Duarte (Seekonk, Mass.) and Erik Foley (Charlton, Mass.), juniors Jason Ellershaw (Cheser, Mass.) and Eric Fant (Sutton, Mass.) as well as sophomore Philip Gulino (Weymouth, Mass.) finished third with a time of 7:38.3, while the second men’s varsity four of Matchett, Ellershaw, sophomore Mark Crespi (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshmen Robert Meyer (Marietta, Ga.) and Michael Kastrinelis (Groveland, Mass.) placed fourth with a time of 8:29.7.

Both Buccaneer squads return to action on Saturday morning by heading to Lowell, Mass. to compete in a quad with Amherst, Franklin Pierce and host UMass Lowell that begins at 9:00 a.m.
