BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Senior Mark Mozelak (New Hartford, Conn.) rapped out four doubles to tie the NCAA Division III mark for the second most two-baggers in a game and drove in a pair of runs to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 15-1 non-league college baseball victory over Lasell Monday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field.

The host Buccaneers (11-16) collected 10 doubles as a team in the triumph, matching the third highest single game total for two-baggers in NCAA Division III history, as part of a 19-hit attack. The visiting Lasers (10-23) took a 1-0 fourth inning advantage on a RBI single by freshman Junior Veiga (Randolph, Mass.), but Massachusetts Maritime batted around in the fourth to take a 3-1 edge on RBI doubles by Mozelak and sophomore Wil Rodriguez (Lowell, Mass.) as well as a run-scoring single off the bat of sophomore Nick Levitre (Grafton, Mass.), who highlighted a four-run fifth frame for the Buccaneers with a two-run double.

Mozelak's second RBI double of the day extended the hosts' lead to 8-1 in the sixth, and a two-run two-bagger off the bat of freshman Kyle Armstrong (Whitman, Mass.) gave Massachusetts Maritime a 10-1 lead through seven. The Buccaneers closed out the day's scoring with five runs in the eighth on RBI doubles by sophomore Corey Murphy (East Wareham, Mass.) and freshman Jared Lowe (Brimfield, Mass.) as well as run-scoring singles off the bats of sophomore Sarkis Nahigian (North Falmouth, Mass.) and freshman Nate Eldridge (South Yarmouth, Mass.) in amassing season highs in both runs and hits on the afternoon.

Mozelak finished one double shy of the NCAA Division III single-game record set by East Texas Baptist's Aaron Dalton in 2007, and Massachusetts Maritime's doubles' game total was two short of the mark first set by Bridgewater State in 1997 against the Buccaneers and since duplicated by three other schools. Rodriguez and senior Tyler Spofford (Sharon Springs, N.Y.) each rapped out three hits for the winners, who also received two hits from Levitre and freshman Jonathan Smith (Weymouth, Mass.). Murphy scattered three hits and struck out eight over seven innings of work on the mound for Massachusetts Maritime to pick up his second victory of the season.

Sophomore Jim Amon (Warren, N.J.) collected two of Lasell's four hits on the afternoon, as freshman Mike Mahoney (Rockland, Mass.) allowed 10 hits and struck out a pair over the first five innings on the hill for the Lasers to fall to 3-2 on the season.

Massachusetts Maritime closes out its 2009 schedule on Tuesday afternoon when the Buccaneers entertain Newbury in a non-league outing at Commodore Hendy Field beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Lasell wraps up its 2009 campaign by hosting Framingham State in a non-league match-up in Newton Centre, Mass. that begins at 7:00 p.m.
