Buccaneer Women’s Cross Country Finishes 11th at Suffolk University

BOSTON, Mass – Friday afternoon, the Maritime women's cross country team ran in the Suffolk University Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. Of the 19 teams that competed, the Buccaneers finished 11th with three runners finishing in the top 50 of 148 total runners.

Junior Meaghan Hamilton (Braintree, Mass) was the top Buc finisher, finishing in 44th place with a time of 22:54. Just a second behind Hamilton was freshman Camryn Boyce (Whitman, Mass), finishing with a time of 22:55 in 45th place. Freshman, Sarah Smialek (Dartmouth, Mass) finished just inside of the top 50, in 47th, with a final time of 23:00 in the 5k race.

As a team, the Bucs finished in the 11th spot with a total time of 2:00:01:00, with 294 points between the 10 runners. Suffolk's Emma Weisse finished first individually with a time of 19:14 while Emmanuel College took the team crown with a cumulative time of 1:44:27:00.

The women's cross country team will race in the MASCAC Championship on October 27th at MCLA. The race will be on a 5k course and begin at 11am.
