Fograshy Leads Way For Women's Cross Country At All-Divisions Connecticut College Invitational

WATERFORD, Conn. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime cross country teams posted solid individual performances at the all-divisions Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as the Buccaneer men placed 13th in the final team standings (11th among Division III entrants) and the women finished 15th overall in the competition.

Junior Patrick Dannaher (Arlington, Va.) led the way once again on the men's side for Massachusetts Maritime, as he posted a time of 27:36 over the 8K layout that was good for 82nd place individually.  Junior Paul Matz (Plainville, Mass.) was next in 105th place with a time of 28:26, while freshmen Daniel McCloskey (Wakefield, R.I.) and Chad McCarthy (Sutton, Mass.) posted times of 28:49 and 28:59 that were good for 118th and 124th place, respectively.  Junior Brian Maniglia (Pennsville, N.J.) rounded out the scoring for the Buccaneers by placing 127th individually in a time of 29:02, as Tufts bested runner-up Bowdoin and third place Brandeis for top team honors on the day.

On the women's side, senior Lauren Fograshy (Monson, Mass.) was the top individual performer for Massachusetts Maritime, as she posted a time of 25:58 over the 6K layout that was good for 82nd place.  Freshman Devon Smith (Hull, Mass.) and senior Kaitlin O'Donnell (Damascus, Md.) were next in 148th and 154th place, respectively, with times of 28:21 and 28:36, while senior Emily Rizzo (Milwaukee, Wis.) and junior Kathleen Micheli (North Attleboro, Mass.) rounded out the Buccaneer scoring with times of 29:13 and 31:31, respectively.  Brandeis took top team honors on the women's side of the competition, with Rensselaer and host Connecticut College finishing in the runner-up and third place positions in the standings.

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads head to Wenham, Mass. next Saturday morning to compete in the Gordon Pop Crowell Invitational that begins at 10:00 a.m.
