Colby-Sawyer Neutralizes Buccaneers in Straight Sets

BOSTON, Mass – The Buccaneers and Chargers met on a neutral floor Saturday afternoon in Boston on the campus of Suffolk University as a part of a tri-match hosted by the Suffolk Rams. The 12-7 Colby-Sawyer Chargers come in to the match having just beaten MASCAC's UMass-Dartmouth on Wednesday evening. The Bucs are coming off a conference loss to Bridgewater on Thursday night.

Maritime's Jen Roy (Attleboro, Mass) led the Bucs with seven kills in the match. Junior, Michelle Sheehan (Attleboro, Mass) led the team in assists with 20, of 22 total assists by the team. Sophomore setter Madison Coughlin (Monroe, Conn) had two service aces for Maritime in the loss.

The Chargers Maddie Conroy had a match high nine kills, Sam Mohammed added four aces for Colby-Sawyer. Ellie Dupre assisted a match high 28 points in the Charger victory.

The Bucs scored 11 points in the first sets, dropping the game 25-11. In the second set, Maritime remained competitive throughout scoring 20 points to the Chargers 25, dropping the second set. With a two set lead, Colby-Sawyer controlled the third set, winning it 25-17 for the 3-0 win on neutral ground against the Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers are back on the court at 3pm in Boston to take on host, Suffolk University.
