Maritime falls in Maritime Classic Opener

BRONX, N.Y. – Saturday, the MMA women's volleyball team travelled to New York to take part in this year's Maritime Classic volleyball tournament, host by SUNY Maritime. The Bucs opened up the three-game slate of weekend games with a lone match against Merchant Marine which they lost in straight sets, 25-6, 25-13 and 25-10.

The Bucs Marie Harrison (Weymouth, Mass) and Michelle Sheehan (Attleboro, Mass) led the team with two kills apiece. Freshman Brooke Naatz (North Andover, Mass) recorded two services aces in the match. Harrison and Naatz also led the Bucs in digs with four each.

Merchant Marine were led by Shelby Bowman with 11 kills and she added a service ace as well. Nicole Ibinson led the match with seven digs for Merchant Marine. Jessica Buchanan had 18 assists for her team in the win.

The Bucs are back on the court tomorrow morning at 11am against Maine Maritime, followed by a match with SUNY Maritime at 1pm.
