Colonels Get the Best of the Bucs in Rainy Milton

MILTON, Mass. – Six different players recorded goals as the Curry College women's soccer team powered to a 8-0 victory over the Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Tuesday night in non-conference action at Walter M. Katz Field.

Freshmen Samantha Borges (Somerset, Mass.) and Courtney Cushing (Gorham, Maine) finished with two goals apiece. Sophomores Tayla Randall (Walpole, Mass.), Jocelyn Dimond (Weare, N.H.), Lexi Revis (Lincoln, R.I.) all added one goal each while freshman Maddie Wilson (Millbury, Mass.) tallied her fourth goal of the season.

The Colonels outshot Mass. Maritime by a commanding 32-6 margin. The Buccaneer goalkeepers Mikayla Houlihan (Middleboro, Mass) and Rachel Gardner (Bourne, Mass) combined to make nine saves in the contest.

Borges opened up the scoring at the 8:20 mark with an assisted effort by Randall as she received the ball in the front of the net on a cross and put it past Houlihan. Borges wasted little time as just 1:34 later, she netted another goal this time on a breakaway.

Curry put away six goals in the second half that included a pair by Cushing. Dimond and Revis also added their first tallies of the season while Wilson chipped in with her fourth goal of the season.

Maggie Chamberlain (Taunton, Mass.) made her second career start in goal for the Colonels and combined with Katelyn DeMaio (North Andover, Mass.) to record the clean sheet.

Mass. Maritime (1-6 overall) will travel to MCLA on Friday, September 28 for a 6pm kickoff.
