FINAL:              EASTERN NAZARENE 5, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 1

QUINCY, Mass. --  Senior Kelly Couite (West Bridgewater, Mass.) notched a hat trick to lift Eastern Nazarene to a 5-1 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Couite staked the host Lions (1-2) to a 1-0 advantage in the 33rd minute on a feed from senior Alexis Schmidt (North Smithfield, R.I.), and she completed her natural hat trick by tallying twice in a 16 second span early in the second half to extend that margin to 3-0.  Markers by freshmen Stephanie MacFarland (Quincy, Mass.) and Diamond Best (Danvers, Mass.) in the 69th and 88th minutes, respectively, closed out Eastern Nazarene’s scoring, and junior Madison Taylor’s (Longmeadow, Mass.) goal with one second remaining in the match accounted for the visiting Buccaneers’ (0-2) lone score on the night.

Schmidt recorded three assists in the triumph for the Lions, who also received a helper from freshman Rachel Bourk (Barrington, R.I.).  Senior Kyera Bryant (Guilford, Conn.) picked up the win in goal for the hosts with a four save effort, while sophomore Sara Coffey (Norton, Mass.) made eight stops in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime as Eastern Nazarene outshot the Buccaneers by a 22-10 margin overall (13-5 on goal) while taking eight of 10 corner kicks in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Dean in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Eastern Nazarene heads into Boston Saturday morning for a non-league match with Wheelock that begins at 11:00 a.m.
