LONGMEADOW, Mass. --  Junior Jai Ruiz (Hadley, Mass.) netted four second half goals and added an assist to finish with nine points as Bay Path overcame a one-goal halftime deficit to notch a 5-2 non-league college women's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday afternoon at Ryan Field.

Ruiz forged a 2-2 tie for the host Wildcats (6-2-1) just 7:40 after intermission, and she gave Bay Path the lead for good with her second tally of the day in the 78th minute before tacking on a pair of insurance goals that came 55 seconds apart late in the contest.  Junior Rebekah Herring (Springfield, Mass.) staked the Wildcats to a 1-0 advantage just 10:31 into action, but the visiting Buccaneers (3-5) used a pair of goals from junior Madison Taylor (Longmeadow, Mass.) in the 15th and 26th minutes of play to take a 2-1 edge at the break, setting up Ruiz's second half heroics for the hosts.

Junior Megan Mackie assisted on two of Ruiz's tallies for Bay Path, which also received helpers from senior Elena Helming (Maplewood, N.J.) and junior Samantha Drapinski (Malden, Mass.).  Freshman Anna Deely (Marstons Mills, Mass.) set up Taylor's second goal in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, as Taylor registered her fifth multi-goal game of the season and extended her school single-season scoring mark to 14 tallies on the year.

Sophomore Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) picked up the win in goal for the Wildcats with a four save effort, while sophomore Sara Coffey (Norton, Mass.) made seven stops in net in the setback for the Buccaneers.  Bay Path outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 16-11 margin overall (12-6 on goal) and held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Westfield, Mass. on Friday evening to take on Westfield State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Bay Path travels to Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday evening for a New England Collegiate Conference clash with Lesley beginning at 6:00 p.m.
