Moquin, Taylor Tabbed As 2017 Women's Soccer Co-Captains

The start of the Massachusetts Maritime women’s soccer season is just nine days away, and as preparations continue for the upcoming campaign, first year Head Coach Yvonna Press has named two of her upperclassmen to serve as the Buccaneers’ co-captains in 2017.

Senior Nicole Moquin (Middleboro, Mass./Bristol-Plymouth) and junior Madison Taylor (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) will serve in those leadership roles for Massachusetts Maritime, which recorded its highest single-season win total in its nine-year varsity intercollegiate history last fall.  Press, who served as a Buccaneer assistant coach for the last three seasons before being promoted earlier this year, says the duo “have exhibited outstanding leadership and played key roles in continuing to build our program during their careers.  The example, work ethic and determination they display both on and off the field has resonated with their teammates, and they will both play a large part in our success going forward.”

Moquin started in seven of nine contests played in 2016 and has appeared in 38 matches during her career in the backfield for the Buccaneers, while Taylor has notched 14 goals and five assists for 33 points while starting all 31 matches played at forward over the last two seasons, including a team-leading seven tallies and one helper for 15 points during her freshman campaign.  Madison ranked second on the team scoring parade a year ago with seven markers and four helpers for 18 points, and four of her 14 career tallies have been game-winners.

Massachusetts Maritime opens its 10th varsity season of play on Saturday, September 2nd when the Buccaneers host Becker in a non-league clash at Clean Harbors Stadium that begins at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
