FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 5, BAY PATH 1

LONGMEADOW, Mass. --  Sophomore Stephanie Hunt (Brookfield, Conn.) and freshman Madison Taylor (Longmeadow, Mass.) each netted a pair of goals to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 5-1 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Bay Path Tuesday afternoon at Ryan Field.

Hunt’s first tally of the day proved to be the game-winner for the visiting Buccaneers (3-7), as her marker snapped a 1-1 deadlock in the 37th minute to give Massachusetts Maritime a 2-1 advantage at the break.  Hunt’s second goal of the contest (fourth of the season) just 6:23 after intermission was set up on a feed from junior Aoife Callinan (West Falmouth, Mass.), who notched her third tally of the year just over four minutes later on a pass from fellow junior Mackenzie Wilson (Plymouth, Mass.).  Taylor closed out the scoring for the Buccaneers with her second of the match and team-leading sixth marker of the fall with four minutes to play in the contest, as she had given the visitors the lead 10:46 into the contest on a feed from Wilson.

Freshman Jailinne Ruiz (Hadley, Mass.) evened matters for the host Wildcats (4-6) just 3:12 after Taylor’s opening goal, as her first collegiate tally was set up on a feed from junior Dallas Jackson (Springfield, Mass.) and accounted for Bay Path’s lone score of the day.  Senior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) picked up her third win of the season in goal for Massachusetts Maritime with a seven-save effort, while junior Briana Kujawski (Webster, Mass.) made 13 stops in the setback for the hosts.  The Buccaneers outshot the Wildcats by a 21-16 margin overall, including an 18-8 margin on goal.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Fitchburg State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Bay Path heads to Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to square off with Lesley in a New England Collegiate Conference clash that begins at 1:00 p.m.
