FINAL:              SALEM STATE 2, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

SALEM, Mass. --  Goals by senior CeCeclia Cresta-Devine (Saugus, Mass.) and sophomore Victoria Clancy (Dorchester, Mass.) lifted Salem State to a 2-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Cresta-Devine’s unassisted marker in the 24th minute gave the host Vikings (3-1-2, 1-0 MASCAC) the only tally they would need on the day, and Clancy converted a feed from junior Kelly Birchmore (Swampscott, Mass.) with 2:19 remaining in the first half to provide an insurance goal and close out the scoring for the match.  Junior Rachel Ledbetter (Dracut, Mass.) made one saves to pick up the shutout triumph in goal for Salem State.

Junior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 10 stops in net in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (1-4-1, 0-1 MASCAC), as the Vikings outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 19-3 margin (12-1 on goal) while taking all four corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Wheelock in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Salem State will be idle until next Saturday afternoon when the Vikings travel to North Adams, Mass. to take on MCLA in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match that begins at 1:00 p.m.
