Levesque Makes 19 Saves As Women's Soccer Drops MASCAC Decision At Bridgewater State

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --  Junior Mackenzie Hatfield (Whitman, Mass.) netted a hat trick and an assist for seven points to lead Bridgewater State to a 7-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Swenson Field.

 

Hatfield scored twice in the opening 10:31 of action, as the host Bears (5-8, 2-3 MASCAC) jumped out to a 5-0 advantage at the break.  Junior Carolyn Sessler (Plymouth, Mass.) and freshmen Courtney Pepin (Uxbridge, Mass.) and Julia Karacius (Norwell, Mass.) also tallied in the opening 45 minutes for Bridgewater State, and the hosts closed out their scoring in a 3:46 span midway through the second half on sophomore Amanda Leite’s (New Bedford, Mass.) marker in the 58th minute and Hatfield’s third of the afternoon in the 61st minute of play.

 

Pepin and Leite each finished with a goal and an assist in the triumph for the Bears, who also received helpers from senior Lauren Bandoian (Medford, Mass.), junior Olivia Planty (Litchfield, N.H.) and sophomore Allyson Pontes (Dartmouth, Mass.).  Junior Kristin Reardon (Weymouth, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Bridgewater State with a pair of first half saves, while fellow junior Emma Titus (Salem, Mass.) made one second half stop for the hosts.  Junior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 19 saves in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (3-8-3, 0-4-1 MASCAC), as the Bears outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 37-3 margin while taking 10 of the 11 corner kicks for the contest.

 

Massachusetts Maritime will be idle until next Saturday afternoon when the Buccaneers host Framingham State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing at Clean Harbors Stadium that begins at Noon, while Bridgewater State heads to Keene, N.H. on Wednesday evening to take on Keene State in a non-league match beginning at 6:30 p.m.
