WORCESTER, Mass. -- Sophomore Danielle Clifford (Attleboro, Mass.) netted a pair of goals and an assist for five points to lead Worcester State to a 7-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Coughlin Field.
The host Lancers (7-5-3, 3-0-3 MASCAC) netted all of their markers in the first 34:46 of action, as junior Sarah Connors (Gardner, Mass.) added a pair of tallies for Worcester State, which also received markers from juniors Karen Feeley (West Springfield, Mass.) and Stefani Bonetti (Plymouth, Mass.) as well as a goal and an assist from senior Shannon Feeley (West Springfield, Mass.) and a helper off the foot of freshman Brianne Beckman (Lakeville, Mass.).
Junior Rachael Armenti (West Boylston, Mass.) picked up the win without making a save over the first 45 minutes of play for Worcester State, which received three second half stops from junior Angieszaka Synchtsz (Warren, Mass.). Freshman Rachel Johnson (South Chatham, Mass.) recorded seven saves in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-14, 0-6 MASCAC) as the Lancers held a 26-5 edge in shots for the contest, including 25 in the first half alone.
Massachusetts Maritime hosts New York Maritime in a non-league encounter on Wednesday evening in its home finale at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Worcester State travels to North Dartmouth, Mass. on Tuesday afternoon to take on UMass Dartmouth in a non-league match that begins at 3:30 p.m.
