BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.-- Sophomore Sarah Connors (Gardner, Mass.) netted a hat trick and added an assist for seven points to lead Worcester State to a 7-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday morning at Commander Ellis Field.

Connors notched a natural hat trick over a 21-minute span as part of a six-goal effort in the opening 45 minutes of play for the visiting Lancers (9-5-1, 4-2 MASCAC), who also received first half tallies from seniors Katelyn Bonetti (Plymouth, Mass.), Tiffany Rotatori (Auburn, Mass.) and Amanda Beaudet (Auburn, Mass.). Freshman Alicia Cloutier (Ware, Mass.) closed out the Worcester State scoring with a marker in the 66th minute of action on a feed from junior Shannon Feeley (West Springfield, Mass.), as the Lancers also received a pair of assists each from seniors Amanda Santos (Milford, Mass.) and Michelle Astuccio (Foxboro, Mass.) as well as junior Kimberly Vail (West Newbury, Mass.).

Sophomore Rachael Armenti (West Boylston, Mass.) made a pair of saves to pick up the win in goal for Worcester State, while freshman Colleen Fissette (Dracut, Mass.) made a career-high 25 stops in net for the host Buccaneers (2-10, 0-6 MASCAC), as the Lancers had 44 of the 46 shots on goal recorded in the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime closes out its inaugural varsity season next Saturday morning by hosting Bridgewater State in a MASCAC outing at Commander Ellis Field beginning at 10:00 a.m., while Worcester State hosts UMass Dartmouth in a non-league match on Tuesday evening in Worcester, Mass. beginning at 7:00 p.m.
