WESTFIELD, Mass.-- Sophomore Susie Lachowski (Sutton, Mass.) and freshman Kate Wye (Blackstone, Mass.) each netted a goal and an assist to lead Westfield State to an 8-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday evening at Alumni Field.

The host Owls (7-3, 2-0 MASCAC) jumped out to a 3-0 lead just 7:22 into the contest on markers by Lachowski and sophomores Meg Gearin (Groton, Mass.) and Kate McLellan (Wilbraham, Mass.), and tallies by senior Jenn Leveille (Southampton, Mass.) and junior Natalie Creonte (Waltham, Mass.) that came 44 seconds apart extended that margin to 5-0 in the 26th minute. Freshman Courtney Salerno's (Holbrook, Mass.) goal in the 38th minute gave Westfield State a 6-0 advantage at the break, and markers by Wye and sophomore Jill Ranney (Southwick, Mass.) in the first 12:45 after intermission accounted for the final score.

Leveille added an assist to go with her goal for the Owls, as freshman Jess Pieciak (Three Rivers, Mass.) and Brittany Beeman (Springfield, Mass.) combined for the shutout win in goal for the hosts. Freshman Colleen Fissette (Dracut, Mass.) made five stops in net in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (1-6, 0-3 MASCAC) as Westfield State had all 22 shots on goal for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Wheelock in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Commander Ellis Field beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Westfield State heads to Keene, N.H. on Wednesday evening to take on Keene State in non-league play at 6:30 p.m.
