LEICESTER, Mass.-- Sophomore Alena Phongsa's (Putnam, Conn.) goal 8:46 into overtime lifted Becker to a 3-2 non-league college women's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Phongsa converted a pass from senior Ashley deFigueiredo (Dartmouth, Mass.) on the deciding tally to cap the comeback triumph for the host Hawks, who overcame a pair of one-goal deficits. Senior Colleen Welsh (Shelton, Conn.) staked the visiting Buccaneers (1-1) to a 1-0 lead 13:02 into the match, but junior Catherine Millette (Columbia, Conn.) evened matters for Becker just 39 seconds later. Freshman Rebecca Luciani (Wakefield, Mass.) gave Massachusetts Maritime a 2-1 advantage at the break when she took a pass from Welsh for her first collegiate marker, but the Hawks tied the contest once again in the 79th minute on freshman Alexandra Fernandes's goal, setting up Phongsa's heroics in the extra session.

Junior Shannon Tibbetts (Warren, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Becker with an eight-save effort, while freshman Emily Welsh (Shelton, Conn.) made 12 stops in net for Massachusetts Maritime as the Hawks outshot the Buccaneers by a 19-11 margin.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Lesley in a non-league match that begins at 3:00 p.m., while Becker hosts Albertus Magnus in a non-league outing on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field at 5:00 p.m.
