Bucs Pick up Big Win over Trailblazers in MASCAC play

NORTH ADAMS, Mass – Friday night, the Buccaneers traveled to North Adams to take on the currently in last place MCLA Trailblazers in MASCAC action. The Bucs went in to the game knowing they needed to win the keep their playoff aspirations alive, and they did just that, beating MCLA 17-1.

For Maritime, sophomore Anna Deely (Marstons Mills, Mass) and freshman Alyssa Blumenthal (Braintree, Mass) each scored five goals in the game. Blumenthal also had four assists in the game. Deely had a game-high five draw controls. Sophomore Casey Sullivan (Sagamore Beach, Mass) added four goals and three assists. Junior Cammi Balentine (Haverhill, Mass) scored twice, freshman Nora McLaughlin (Quincy, Mass) scored once and added an assist. Freshman defender Amanda Gould (Buzzards Bay, Mass) tallied one assist for the Bucs. Defensively, Gould racked up five caused turnovers. Goalie Laura Kleber (Westport, Mass) faced just two shots, saving one and allowing a goal. 

MCLA's one goal game from the stick of Ciera Dowling, unassisted. Kim Granito and Nataejia Forte each had four draw controls for the hosts. Forte also led all players with nine ground balls. Goalie Zoe Elwell faces 22 shots, made five saves and allowed the 17 Maritime goals.

The Buccaneers scored two minutes in to the game on Sullivan's first goal of the game. Maritime would go on to score 11 first half goals, Three of which belonged to Blumenthal, four by Deely.

The Bucs extended their unanswered streak to 12 three minutes in to the second half as Sullivan opened the scoring once again in the second. Dowling scored nine minutes later for MCLA to break the streak and make the score 12-1. Maritime scored five more times in the game, capped off by McLaughlin's goal with just under two minutes remaining to bring the score to 17-1, the eventual final.

The Buccaneers will host Framingham State on Wednesday, April 24th at 7pm at Clean Harbors Stadium.
