WESTFIELD, Mass. --  Junior Hunter Zackaricz (Southampton, Mass.) scored four goals to lead Westfield State to a 16-3 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday evening at Alumni Field.

 

The host Owls (8-4, 3-0 MASCAC) overcame an early 1-0 deficit with 10 unanswered goals over a 16 minute stretch en route to a 12-2 advantage at the break, as sophomore Marissa Nimeskern (Hanover, Mass.) added a hat trick as well for the winners.  Junior Rachel Testa (Westminster, Mass.) joined sophomores Sydney Lambert (Hanover, Mass.) and Elizabeth Navoni (Mansfield, Mass.) in recording two goals each for Westfield State, which received a marker and helper each from sophomores Alexa Tonelli (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Allie Fedak (Wilbraham, Mass.) to go with a single tally off the stick of freshman Hayley Rodriguez (Melrose, Mass.).  Sophomore Lucy Barrett (Williamstown, Mass.) registered three assists on the night for the Owls, who received two helpers from junior Samantha Coyle (Weymouth, Mass.) and a single assist from junior Stephanie Godek (West Springfield, Mass.).

 

Junior Stephanie Hunt (Brookfield, Conn.) collected a goal and an assist in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-7, 0-3 MASCAC), who also received tallies from senior Dahlia Seggelin (Sharon, Mass.) and junior Brianna Pingree (Mashpee, Mass.).  Sophomore Maria Woodall (Norfolk, Mass.) picked up the win in goal with three first half saves for Westfield State, which received a pair of second half stops from senior Alanah Melanson (Chelmsford, Mass.) in net.  Junior Mikayla Correia (Dartmouth, Mass.) notched nine saves in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, as the Owls outshot the Buccaneers by a 37-9 margin overall and held an 18-3 edge in draw controls for the contest.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Bridgewater State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Westfield State travels to Framingham, Mass. on Tuesday evening to square off with Framingham State in a MASCAC clash that begins at 6:00 p.m.
