BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Nicole Pacheco (Woburn, Mass.) scored four goals and added an assist for five points to lead Framingham State to a 12-7 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

 

The visiting Rams (9-6, 4-2 MASCAC) overcame an early 2-1 deficit by netting five goals in just over seven minutes to take a 6-2 edge on senior Lindsay Nixon’s (Woburn, Mass.) tally with 13:58 remaining in the opening half, but the host Buccaneers (2-9, 1-5 MASCAC) scored three of the final five goals to trail by an 8-5 margin at the break.  Massachusetts Maritime closed back to within two at 9-7 on senior Ashley Solari’s (Sandwich, Mass.) man-down marker with 8:58 to play in the contest, but the Rams scored the last three goals (including two by Pacheco) of the match in a 2:29 span to ice their triumph.

 

Freshman Grace Gamache (Dartmouth, Mass.) added a hat trick and an assist in the win for Framingham State, which received a marker and three helpers from junior Kimberly Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) as well as a tally and two assists from freshman Rylee Holmes (Hanson, Mass.).  Sophomore Shae Riley (Fairhaven, Mass.) chipped in with a goal and an assist as well for the Rams, who received a single tally off the stick of senior Claryssa Cunniff (Framingham, Mass.).

 

Solari and junior Stephanie Hunt (Brookfield, Conn.) each netted a pair of goals and an assist in the setback for the Buccaneers, who also received goals from senior Dahlia Seggelin (Sharon, Mass.), junior Brianna Pingree (Mashpee, Mass.) and freshman Cammi Balentine (Haverhill, Mass.).  Sophomore Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) picked up her ninth win in goal with a 10-save effort for Framingham State, while junior Mikayla Correia (Dartmouth, Mass.) made 13 stops in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime as the Rams outshot the Buccaneers by a 28-22 margin overall and held a 14-7 edge in draw controls on the evening.

 

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Fitchburg, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to square off with Fitchburg State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Framingham State hosts MCLA in a MASCAC match on Friday afternoon in Framingham, Mass. beginning at 5:30 p.m.
