Hogan Nets Pair Of Goals, Langley Makes Seven Saves As Women's Lacrosse Drops 17-2 MASCAC Decision At Worcester State

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Sophomore Molly Kilday (Westford, Mass.) netted a hat trick and three assists for six points to lead Worcester State to a 17-2 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Coughlin Field.

 

Kilday helped the host Lancers (9-4, 2-2 MASCAC) jump out to a 5-0 lead in the opening 4:08 of action, and Worcester State collected the final seven goals of the half en route to a 12-1 lead at the break.  The hosts completed a nine-goal run over a 28-plus minute stretch to take a 14-1 edge with 23:09 remaining on sophomore Michelle Tully’s (Tewksbury, Mass.) free position conversion and netted three more tallies in a six-plus minute stretch midway through the second half to account for the final score.

 

Junior Vicki O’Brien (Canton, Mass.) added a hat trick as well in the win for the Lancers, who also received a pair of markers and four assists from freshman Jackie Connors (Ashland, Mass.).  Tully and freshman Kalia Chase (Northbridge, Mass.) added two goals and a helper each for Worcester State, which also received a pair of tallies from senior Daryl Powell (Beverly, Mass.).  Sophomore Jaclyn Lawlor (Westford, Mass.) chipped in with a marker and two assists for the winners, who also received a goal and an assist each from junior Amy Tucker (North Attleboro, Mass.) and freshman Marissa Irwin (Billerica, Mass.) as well as two helpers off the stick of sophomore Angela Grassetti (Feeding Hills, Mass.).

 

Senior Shelagh Hogan (North Andover, Mass.) netted both goals in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (2-9, 1-3 MASCAC), as those tallies were set up by freshman Molly Smith (Westwood, Mass.).  Senior Alex Chisholm (Brookfield, Mass.) picked up the win in goal with a seven-save effort for Worcester State, while sophomore Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) also made seven stops in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime as the Lancers outshot the Buccaneers bv a 29-10 margin for the match.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Bridgewater State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Worcester State heads to Salem, Mass. to take on Salem State in a MASCAC outing on Wednesday evening that begins at 6:00.
