McCabe Wins Division Three New England Shot Put Championship

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass – Friday and Saturday, three Buccaneers men's track & field athletes competed in the Division III New England Championships, hosted by Williams College.

Sophomore shot putter Colin McCabe (Dartmouth, Mass) won the DIII New England Championship with a 16.78 meter throws. The toss was 1.50 meters further than that of the second place finisher. Coming in to the meet, Colin held the MMA record, many times over, for the shot put. With the 16.78 meter throw he beat his personal best and set the school record once again by 0.02 meters. Freshman Gerry Mackin (Weymouth, Mass) also competed in the shot put, finishing in 15th place with a qualifying throw of 13.62 meters.

Freshman sprinter Brady Bailey (Norwell, Mass) competed in the 100 and 200 meter events. Though he did not make the finals in the 100, he the preliminary in 11.23 seconds, .08 seconds short of his personal best. In the 200 meter, he ran a 22.80 in the preliminaries and followed that up with an identical 22.80 second time in the finals of the 200, finishing 21st.

McCabe will travel to Southern Connecticut this weekend for the All-New England Champions.
