Track & Field Finish Regular Season at ECSU and MIT before MASCAC Championships; McCabe Does it Again

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – Men's and women's track & field traveled to Eastern Connecticut on Friday to compete in the ECSU Spring Classic followed by a trip to MIT on Saturday to compete in the Sean Collier Invitational.

At Eastern Connecticut, the men's team collected 14 total points. Eight of which were tallied by Alec Goldenberg (Douglas, Mass). Goldenberg finished second in the 400 meter hurdle event with a final time of 58.51 second.

Jumper, Jason Baker (Carver, Mass) snagged four points for the Bucs in the triple jump, finishing fourth with a final jump of 11.84 meters.

The Maritime 4x400 relay team collected the final two points on the men's side with a fifth place finish for two points.

On the women's side at ECSU, the team tallied 13 points, six of which Meaghan Hamilton (Braintree, Mass) accumulated in the 5000 meter run. She finished with a time of 22:03.99, finished third, for six points.

The women's 4x100 meter relay team also picked up six points with a third place finishing time of 55.93 seconds.

Captain Michelle Sheehan (Attleboro, Mass) racked up the final point for the women in the 400 meter dash, finishing sixth with a time of 1:06.12.

At MIT, the story for the men's team was Colin McCabe (Dartmouth, Mass) once again. McCabe not only won the Shot put event for the fifth time this season, but he again broke his own personal record and the school record with a qualifying throw of 16.76 meters. He won the event by beating the second place finished from Boston University by 1.07 meters. Colin now sits in fifth place among all division three shot putters with his 55'0" throw on Saturday.

Freshman Brady Bailey (Norwell, Mass) finished third in the 100 meter dash with a finishing time of 11.15 seconds. He followed that up with a third place finish in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 22.72 seconds. Both times in the events are new school records. 

For the women in Cambridge, Sheehan finished eighth in the women's 400 meter event with a time of 1:05.47.

In the 3000 meter steeple chase, Hamilton came in second with a finishing time of 13:54.10.

Next up for the Buccaneers is a trip to the MASCAC/LEC Championships at Fitchburg State University on Saturday, April 27th. Events begin at 10am.
