Buccaneers Men Place Twelfth, Women Finish Thirteenth at Bridgewater Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass – This past Friday and Saturday, the Buccaneers track and field team travelled to Bridgewater State University to compete in their first meet of the season. Along with hosts, Bridgewater State, Maritime competed against Northeastern, Roger Williams, Merrimack and fellow MASCAC member Fitchburg State, to name a few. The Buccaneers competed in 19 events over the two days with two athletes finishing in the top three in their events. Overall, the men's team finished in 12th place with 27 points with the women's team finishing in 13th with 12 points.

On Friday, sophomore shot putter Colin McCabe (Dartmouth, Mass) finished second in the shot put event. His final qualifying throw measured 16.06 meters, just .08 meters short of winner Andrew Canistracci from Northeastern University.

Saturday, freshman distance runner Camryn Boyce (Whitman, Mass) finished second in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Boyce finished with a time of 14:25.17, behind only Alana Olendorf from Keene State. Boyce's finished earned her MASCAC women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week honors.

On the men's side of the track events, distance runner, Zach Ferreira (Stoughton, Mass) finished in fourth place in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:46.78. Sprinter, Alec Goldenberg (Douglas, Mass) finished in sixth place in the 400 meter hurdles with a final times of 1:01.57, .13 seconds behind fifth place finisher Hayden Kilpatrick of Northeastern.

The team will travel to UMass-Dartmouth this weekend for the Corsair Classic on Saturday, March 30th. Events begin at 11am.
