Eight Individuals Record Top 10 Performances For Outdoor Track & Field At Bridgewater State Bears Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime outdoor track & field team began its 2016 season by recording eight individual top 10 performances at the non-scoring Bridgewater State Bears Invitational Saturday afternoon on the Swenson Track.

 

Sophomore Ian Chester (Rockland, Mass.) recorded a pair of top 10 finishes for the Buccaneers, as he placed seventh in the 110 meter hurdles (17.76) and 10th in the high jump (1.68 meters/5 feet, 6 inches).  Junior Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) added a sixth place finish in the javelin (33.63 meters/110 feet, 4 inches), while sophomore Mitch Conroy (Brooklyn, Conn.) and freshman Cal Garufo (Winthrop, Mass.) also recorded respective sixth place performances in the discus (34.96 meters/114 feet, 8 inches) and triple jump (10.63 meters/34 feet, 10 ½ inches).

 

Senior Bryce MacAndrew (Warwick, R.I.) notched a seventh place finish in the hammer throw (38.87 meters/127 feet, 6 inches) for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received an eighth place school-record setting performance from junior Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.) in the triple jump (8.86 meters/29 feet, 1 inch).  Sophomore Joseph Carey (Pembroke, Mass.) collected a ninth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles (18.83) for the Buccaneers, who also placed sixth in both the 4 x 100 (48.00) and 4 x 400 (4:01.19) meter relays.

 

Massachusetts Maritime returns to action next Saturday, April 2nd by heading to North Dartmouth, Mass. to compete at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic beginning at 11:00 a.m.
