Trio Of Seniors Key Solid Performances For Outdoor Track & Field At UMass Amherst Minutemen Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. --  A trio of seniors led a group of solid performances for the Massachusetts Maritime outdoor track and field team on Saturday afternoon at the UMass Amherst Minutemen Invitational, as the Buccaneers placed 12 of 15 teams entered from all divisions in the competition.

Senior Chris Dintino (Mashpee, Mass.) posted a sixth place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.12 meters, while fellow senior Chris Sullo (Canton, Mass.) added a sixth place performance in the high jump with a mark of 1.86 meters.  Senior James Hutchinson (Pembroke, Mass.) notched a seventh place finish in the javelin with a mark of 50.71 meters, while freshman Zachary Poh (Bridgewater, Mass.) recorded his first career top 10 finish in the discus with a ninth place performance of 40.49 meters.

The 4 x 100 meter relay tandem of senior Joe Choiniere (Mansfield, Mass.), junior Laurence Tagger (Bourne, Mass.) and freshmen Sam Hill (Hopkinton, N.H.) and E.J. Bennett (East Wareham, Mass.) finished seventh in the event with a time of 44.39, while freshman Tyler Brady (Woburn, Mass.) placed second in 10,000 meter competition with a time of 36:06.

Sophomore Liz Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass.) added a 13th place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 14:06.75 for Massachusetts Maritime, which heads to New London, Conn. next Saturday morning to participate in the Connecticut College Silfen Invitational that begins at 11:00 a.m.
