NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime outdoor track & field posted another solid performance on Saturday afternoon at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic, as the Buccaneer men placed fifth of nine teams with a score of 71 points while the Buccaneer women collected 10 points with three individuals scoring in the competition.

Senior Meredith Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) and junior Chris Sullo (Canton, Mass.) recorded a pair of second place finishes in the javelin (34.22 meters) and high jump (1.83 meters) for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a pair of third place performances in the high jump (1.78 meters) and triple jump (12.91 meters) to go with a sixth place effort in the long jump (6.20 meters) from senior Rory O’Donnell (Somerset, Mass.).

Freshman Robert Gratzer (Pembroke, Mass.) placed third in the discus (39.88 meters) and seventh in the shot put (12.29 meters) on the day for the Buccaneers, who also received fifth place performances from junior James Hutchinson (Pembroke, Mass.) in the javelin (49.30 meters) and freshman Liz Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass.) in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (14:38.13).  Senior Brian Reske (Duxbury, Mass.) recorded a sixth place finish in the 1,500 meters (4:17.79) for Massachusetts Maritime, while sophomore Evan Balderelli (Brimfield, Mass.) finished sixth in the 110 meter hurdles (18:41) and seventh in the 400 meter hurdles (1:01.07) in the competition.

Senior Joseph Choiniere (Mansfield, Mass.) placed seventh in the 100 meters (11.72) for the Buccaneers, while juniors Kevin Quinn (Barrington, R.I.) and Chris Dintino (Mashpee, Mass.) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the hammer throw with marks of 38.27 and 37.54 meters.  Sophomores Gabriel Bermudez (Guaynabo, P.R.) and Ryan Clark (St. Petersburg, Fla.) finished eighth and ninth in the javelin with respective marks of 45.81 and 43.12 meters, while sophomore Laura Spalt (Harwichport, Mass.) finished eighth in the 100 meter hurdles (18.39) and 10th in the high jump (1.32 meters).  Senior Stephanie Lee (Acton, Mass.) added a ninth place performance in the long jump (4.07 meters), while Dintino collected the 20th top 10 finish of the day for the Buccaneers in the shot put (11.56 meters).

Massachusetts Maritime will be idle until Saturday, April 23rd when the Buccaneers travel to New London, Conn. to participate in the Connecticut College Silfen Invitational that begins at 11:00 a.m.
