FITCHBURG, Mass.-- The Massachusetts Maritime men's outdoor track and field team placed eighth of 20 teams competing at the Fitchburg State Jim Sheehan Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman James Hutchinson (Pembroke, Mass.) led the way for the Buccaneers with a second place finish in the javelin, posting a mark of 47.55 meters in the event, while sophomore Rory O'Donnell (Somerset, Mass.) added a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.93 meters.

Freshman Chris Sullo (Canton, Mass.) recorded a pair of top 10 finishes for Massachusetts Maritime on the day, as he placed fourth in the high jump (1.78 meters) and 10th in the 110 meter hurdles (19.63), while fellow freshmen Kevin Quinn (Barrington, R.I.) and Bill Sharp (Miami, Fla.) finished ninth and 11th, respectively, in the hammer throw (34.16 meters) and javelin (42.40 meters).

The Buccaneers placed second among four MASCAC squads competing in the event, as Southern Maine took top team honors on the men's side.

Sophomore Meredith Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) led the way once again on the women's side for Massachusetts Maritime, as she placed eighth in the javelin with a mark of 28.12 meters. Fellow sophomore Allison Condino (Fitchburg, Mass.) posted a mark of 18.74 meters on the day as well for the Buccaneers.

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads return to action next Saturday morning, as the Buccaneers travel to North Dartmouth, Mass. to participate in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational that begins at 10:00 a.m.
