NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Massachusetts Maritime men's outdoor track & field team placed 12th overall in the final team standings at the Connecticut College Silfen Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as the Buccaneers had several outstanding individual performances on the day.

Freshman Chris Sullo (Canton, Mass.) continued his solid rookie campaign by finishing fourth in the high jump (1.83 meters) and ninth in the 110 meter hurdles (19.37) for the Bucs, while sophomore Ryan Buchanio (Plainville, Mass.) finished sixth in the discus (33.07 meters). Fellow sophomore Brian Reske (Duxbury, Mass.) added an 11th place individual finish in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:24.67, as he also teamed with junior Jason McWhirter (Melvin Village, N.H.), sophomore Matt Cyr (Newmarket, N.H.) and freshman Ian Wiltshire (Alexandria, N.H.) for a sixth place performance in the 4 X 800 relay in a time of 9.18.63.

Coast Guard took top honors in the final team standings with 291.5 points, while UMass Dartmouth and Worcester State followed in second and third place, respectively.

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads will compete for their respective Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference and New England Alliance Championships as the 2009 seasons come to a close next Saturday morning with the annual events that will take place in Westfield, Mass. beginning at 11:30 a.m.
