Corazzini Dubbed to All-MASCAC Second Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Fresh off its Team IMPACT Draft Day yesterday, the Massachusetts Maritime Academy's softball team added another season highlight as Jill Corazzini was named to the All-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Second Team.

Corazzini was a breakout star this year for Head Coach Kathleen L'Abbe's squad. After flashing strong plate discipline and showing some power in her rookie year, the native of Paxton, Mass. emerged as an all-around player this spring.

The sophomore outfielder hit a whopping .347, tied for 18th in the MASCAC. To this, she added four doubles, 12 runs, nine RBI, and three stolen bases. After starting out the year slowly, Corazzini broke out with back-to-back three-hit games in the second week of April. From that point on, she hit .413 and struck out only four times in 56 at bats, walking three times. Corazzini also improved in the field, committing two errors over 27 games and pitching in with three assists.

"This is a great honor for Jill and she deserves it," remarked L'Abbe. "I am so happy for her!"

The last All-Conference nod for the Buccaneers was Carli Thomas, a graduating senior, in 2016. It is the 14th MASCAC selection in the last 21 years for Mass. Maritime.
