CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. --  Juniors Carli Thomas (Brewster, Mass.) and Elizabeth Bramhall (Plymouth, Mass.) each rapped out four hits to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a sweep of a non-league college softball doubleheader from Pine Manor Thursday afternoon by scores of 13-3 in a five inning opener and 12-3 in the nightcap in games played at Pine Manor Field.

 

Freshman Allyson Crowley (Leicester, Mass.) collected two hits in the opening game win for the visiting Buccaneers (4-6), while fellow freshman Jenna Nalette (Goffstown, N.H.) went the distance to earn her second victory of the season with a seven strikeout performance and helped her own cause at the plate with a pair of singles.  Thomas and Bramhall combined for seven hits in the nightcap triumph for Massachusetts Maritime, which received two singles each from junior Kaylene Murphy (Randolph, Mass.) and freshman Rachel Turley (Marshfield, Mass.) in the second contest.  Freshman Melissa Cochrane (Walpole, Mass.) limited the host Gators (2-8) to three runs and struck out six to earn her second win inside the circle for the visitors, as she helped her own cause with three singles at the plate.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Alison Rollins Field that begins at Noon.
