Softball Drops Season Ending Doubleheader

MCLA softball finished their MASCAC season Sunday with a sweep of Massachusetts Maritime by a score of 8-0 in the opener and 8-0 in game two.

The Trailblazers (12-22 overall, 6-8 MASCAC) finished sixth in the conference while MMA (1-27 overall, 0-14 MASCAC) had a winless MASCAC finish.

Jen McMurray captured both wins for MCLA, striking out 13, and only gave up an impressive three hits in the doubleheader.

Cali Longtin (Feeding Hills) took both losses for the Lady Bucs.

In the first game of the afternoon, Taylor Kenyon and Katie Oullette matched stats to lead the Trailblazers to a 8-0 win over visiting MMA. Both went 2-for-3 from the plate, scoring once, while knocking in two. McMurray pitched a complete two-hit game to earn the win. Kerri Berthelette (Taunton) and Kate Bono (Springfield) had the two MMA hits in the opening game.

The second game of the afternoon proved to be very similar to the first. Rachel Desautels finished a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate, scoring three runs and batting in two. Ashley Morrison also went 2-for-3 including an inside the park home run and three runs scored.

Mallory Harris (Longmeadow) had the lone MMA hit in game two.
