BOURNE, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team recorded a strong fourth place finish among 11 teams competing in the Great Herring Pond Open Regatta on Sunday afternoon at the Keith Hartford Sailing Center.

 

The Buccaneer “A” vessel consisting of junior Frank Reeg (Spring Lake, Mich.) and freshman Sydney Clays (Westerly, R.I.) posted a score of 26 points in the event, while Massachusetts Maritime’s “B” tandem of sophomores Alex Bowen (North Kingstown, R.I.) and Maya Stephani (Chicago, Ill.) recorded 28 points in competition that was limited to just one day due to rain and wind conditions on Saturday.

 

Salve Regina captured the top spot in the team standings with 26 points, while Boston University followed in the runner-up position with 44 points.  Northeastern finished with 46 points in topping the Buccaneers’ mark of 54 points in the competition.

 

The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy squad returns to action next weekend at the MIT Oberg Trophy, while the Buccaneer offshore team will travel to Annapolis, Md. to compete at the prestigious Navy MacMillan Cup Regatta next weekend.
