Buccaneer Sailing Takes First in Central Series Regatta

SOUTH PLYMOUTH, Mass. – Sailors from Brown, Salve Regina, UMASS Amherst, and Massachusetts Maritime Academy arrived at the Keith Hartford Sailing Center to a 10 knot northwesterly and chilly 20 degree temperatures. Though the event was called early due to the weather conditions, but not before Buccaneer team MSM 1 took home First Place in the Central Series Regatta No. 1.

Three Races were sailed before a quick warmup session and a boat rotation. Three more races were sailed before freezing lines and sailors prevented further competition. Mass Maritime sailed three teams in the event with combinations as follow below.

"Coaches Fallon and Walker did a great job on the race committee boat," noted Matt Wordell, Head Dinghy Coach. "Coach Wordell and Director Tougas ran the shoreside operations and managed the equipment breakdowns."

Mass Maritime Cadets Chris Dawson, McKenna Jarvis, Andrew Morrison, Colin English and Luke Turner all combined to work the two safety boats and assist the race committee. Frank Reeg, Sydney Clays, Alex Bowen and Megan Laurie combined for First place in the event overall.
