Offshore Sailing Records Trio Of Top Nine Finishes At Quissett Round-The-Bay Regatta

FALMOUTH, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime offshore sailing team began its fall schedule with a trio of top nine performances in the Quissett Round-The-Bay Regatta on Saturday afternoon in perfect conditions on Buzzards Bay.

 

The Spirit, skippered by senior James Lamb (Taunton, Mass.), posted a fifth place finish in the event, as seniors Brandon Deal (Norton, Mass.), Judson Yerkes (West Barnstable, Mass.), and Leah Saunders (Rochester, Mass.), junior Ryan Novak-Smith (Johnston, R.I.), sophomore Cassandra Kolstad (Madison, Conn.) and freshman Matthew Considine (Mansfield, Mass.) comprised the Buccaneer crew on that vessel.  The Good Trade, skippered by junior Kyle Brego (St. John, Virgin Islands), followed in sixth place, as seniors Timothy Forgione (Kendall Park, N.J.) and Alexander Hunt (Baltimore, Md.), junior Christopher Mannka (Uxbridge, Mass.), sophomore Erica Mutoh (Palmetto Bay, Fla.) and freshman McKenna Jarvis (Dedham, Mass.) sailed aboard that vessel.

 

The third Massachusetts Maritime entry, the JULULAHJU skippered by senior Priscilla Stoll (Pocasset, Mass.), posted a ninth place finish on the day, as senior Stephen Bowen (Gilbertsville, Pa.), juniors Clare Carlson (Provincetown, Mass.) and Joseph Dragon (Glen Arm, Md.), sophomore Tanner Dailey (Marshfield, Mass.) and freshmen Jonathan Baker (Marblehead, Mass.) and Luis Castro Loza (Ponce, P.R.) comprised the vessel’s crew.

 

The Buccaneer offshore squad will travel to Annapolis, Md. this weekend to participate in the prestigious Navy Shields Trophy Regatta that begins Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m.
