ANNAPOLIS, Md. --  The Massachusetts Maritime offshore sailing team posted a sixth place overall team finish over the weekend at the prestigious Navy Shields Trophy off the shores of Chesapeake Bay.

Seniors James Lamb (Taunton, Mass.) and Leah Saunders (Rochester, Mass.) skippered the Buccaneer crew, which also included seniors Brandon Deal (Norton, Mass.) and Judson Yerkes (West Barnstable, Mass.), juniors Ryan Novak-Smith (Johnston, R.I.), Kyle Brego (St. John, Virgin Islands) and Emily Casella (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.) as well as sophomores Monica Chilcot (Plymouth, Mass.) and Christopher Dawson (Mashpee, Mass.).

Massachusetts Maritime topped SUNY-Maritime, the United States Merchant Marine Academy and the United States Military Academy in the overall competition, which was won by California Maritime.
